  • Sorrel is effective to boost immunity. Sorrel is a reliable source of Vitamin A and vitamin C which are substances that helps the immune system functioning properly. Vitamin A is an antioxidant and keeps the mucous membranes healthy, which also act as protective barriers against infections. Vitamin C also known as ascorbic acid increases resistance against viral infections, supports the skin’s function as a barrier against pathogens, and protects against oxidative stress.
  • Sorrel promotes gastrointestinal health. Sorrel helps maintain regular bowel movement because it is rich in fiber. A 1-cup serving of fresh sorrel provides about four grams of fiber. Sorrel in large doses can be used as laxative. In gastritis with poor secretion of gastric juice, consumption increases acidity and normalizes digestion. Small doses of sorrel juice have a choleretic effect on the body.
