The U.S. has become a vital energy source for Europe through 2022 due to the Russia-Ukraine crisis. The surging cost of U.S. LNG supplies — “four times” the price at which it sells to American suppliers, said French finance minister — has weighed on Europe’s tattered budgets.
Besides overpriced energy, the U.S. is busy pocketing billions by selling massive weaponry to European allies. Since last Feb., EU countries have pledged to beef up arsenals by some $230 bln, U.S. media Politico has reported. The U.S. arms industry has been a major beneficiary.
