Johann Zarco finished the MotoGP tests at Sepang in 16th position. Like most riders, he set his best time on the third and final day, held yesterday, although he didn’t focus on the lap time.
The frenchman from Pramac was pleased with the work done, telling the press: ‘I enjoyed the third day. We were able to work like the first day, to do the little things that can bring a lot. I think it’s been a good step forward, so I’m happy with that’.
Regarding his position in the table, Zarco recalled that the rain didn’t allow to fit the new tyre at the end and doing it before that was not the objective of the test either: ‘If we see the classification, at the end of the day the rain didn’t give the opportunity to put the new tyre. Maybe we could have ridden it earlier, but that wasn’t the point: I wanted to feel the bike and get that feel to get the bike where we want it to be, and that’s going really well. That’s the whole point of the test and I’m really glad we had the time to play what we wanted to’.
Regarding his work for Ducati and the level at which he sees the Desmosedici GP23, the #5 commented: ‘We also continue to test things for Ducati and it is always a pleasure to do so because my feeling is very sensitive and the information is useful – even if sometimes you can’t feel that much of a difference. But at least you keep working […]. The things we tested are very interesting, I think we will have a very good bike in Portimao to continue attacking. We saw that the other Ducati riders are already very competitive, I’m just following the path to also be prepared for Portimao’.
